This looks too uniform, so pull the verts around a bit so it looks natural. Now merge the outer verts together, press “W” to open up the specials menu, and select Merge. to do this, delete the closest 2 faces where a branch intersects. Now we need to connect all the main branches. Repeat these same steps for all the branches. To fix this, start pulling around verts along the Y axis.Īnother thing you can do is to put the 3d cursor at the base of a branch, and rotate along the cursor. Repeat this same step for all of the main branches. Use this new segment to shape out another branch. Select one segment from the main branch, and duplicate it “Shift + D”. Start maping the tube to fit the trunk, and main branch. Press “Shift +A” and insert a tube into the scene. If you’re not using Blender, you should be able to use the same methods in whichever program you are using.įirst load your reference photo into the background. Another great thing about this method, is that you can use it in the blender game engine. (mine came out to 7,128) This allows for having multiple trees without your scene becoming too heavy. This method makes a tree with a reasonable number of faces. So I have decided to give the community exactly what they have been asking for. Vegetation has always been a neglected topic when it comes to tutorials. UPDATE: A lot has happened in the past several years, and I am fighting for my sanity.
